Mike’s Caribbean Vacation Old Fashioned | Cajun 911 Cuisine

cocktails fruit
Caribbean Old Fashioned cocktail made with dark rum and satsuma garnish.

This bourbon-free Cajun 911 Old Fashioned trades oak for island warmth, blending dark rum with satsuma syrup, citrus bitters, and gentle Caribbean spice. Smooth, tropical, and bold, this cocktail drinks like a slow vacation somewhere warm — rich molasses notes, bright satsuma citrus, and a relaxed, polished finish.

INGREDIENTS

CARIBBEAN OLD FASHIONED BASE

2 oz dark rum, aged preferred

1/2 oz Cajun 911 satsuma syrup

2–3 dashes Angostura bitters

1 dash orange bitters

Small pinch nutmeg or cinnamon

1 large ice cube

GARNISH

Satsuma peel twist

Charred pineapple chunk

Optional cherry or toasted coconut

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Build the Cocktail

Add dark rum, satsuma syrup, Angostura bitters, orange bitters, and a tiny pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir for 20–25 seconds until smooth and well chilled.

2. Strain

Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.

3. Garnish

Express the satsuma peel over the drink to release the oils. Rub the peel around the rim, then drop it into the glass or twist over the top. Garnish with a charred pineapple chunk and optional cherry or toasted coconut.
